LIFESTYLE : CHINA
China has 1.2 billion people with different racial, social, economic and cultural background. Therefore, here we can only speak about the traditional or dominate lifestyle which is more or less typical of the Chinese nation as a whole.
Generally speaking, the Chinese people live a life distinct from other peoples in that they pursue such qualities as conformity to nature, harmony, and plain living as opposed to conquest of nature, individuality and material luxury. A pretty flower or a full moon can mean a lot of things for Chinese people, depending on the circumstances.
In connection with their ethics, the Chinese people's lifestyle is characterized by two considerations: Harmony between humans and nature, and harmony among humans.
Another major element in the ordinary life of the Chinese is staying good health. Qigong is the most popular form of exercise By coordinating breathing and other physical as well as mental conditions, qigong reflects the traditional thinking of integrating humans into the universe. In connection with qigong, most people can play some taijiquan or some other "kung-fu." Chinese martial arts aim primarily at strengthening the body and cultivating the mind. It is a means of making friends not enemies.

This preoccupation with nature permeates all aspects of the Chinese people's life. For example, even on an outing , the Chinese people seek to integrate
themselves into nature. In springtime, they admire the new-grown greenery in the summer, they appreciate the lotus in the autumn, they climb up a hill for a view
of the golden season; and in the winter, they feast their
eyes on the first snow. Festivals occupy an important position in the Chinese's life. Although they offer sacrifices to gods on festivals, the gods are actually of secondary importance. Interpersonal harmony, in contrast, is of primary importance. The most important of all the festivals, of course, is the "spring festival." And even on this day, the offerings are intended for people to consume, and the gods are believed to raise no objection to this. |
Chinese Culture is omnipresent. Qin ( a Chinese stringed instrument somewhat like zither), qi (Chinese chess or go), shu (calligraphy) and hua (painting) are the four most popular traditional forms of entertainment. The point is not how good you can get; rather, it is the mood and atmosphere these activities build up for the player. It is a tempering of the character. There is a dao (literally , way or path; norm, principle for everything. Playing Chinese chess or go, for example, is not just for winning . In the processing of playing. One can learn the art of self-composure and the spirit of detachment to fame and gain.

Living simple life
It may seem like there are not too many people out there who appreciate the simple things in life, but the truth is, this group of people is growing. As things become more complicated and advanced, people are left feeling as if the days gone by are treasured times. There are plenty of advantages to the new technological advances the world sees every day, but it can leave you feeling like the world is a cold and unwelcoming place. Things move fast and when people are wrapped up in technology, they may feel removed from society and from their loved ones. It may make life easier, but if over time you start to feel disconnected and people lose touch with even those living under the same roof.
If you feel that all of the technology available to you is proving counterproductive, you may be right. There may be advantages and you may have a better quality of life if you simplify things and turn back to an easier way of living. For starters, there is no need to worry about electronics breaking. If you have no MP3 player or cordless phone, you will never need iPod Touch repair or iPhone repairs. Granted, these can be easy, affordable pictures, but if you never have to worry about something breaking, there will be a lot less stress in your life.
This reduced level of stress carries over into other parts of your life. If you are feeling better about your new, simplified life, it will make you more relaxed in everything you do. The converse is true. If you are feeling stressed about the overwhelming amount of information you have access to and the number of things that can go wrong in your life, that tension will be apparent no matter what you are doing. Simplifying things means you will gain a sense of calm and focus. You will be present in everything you do.
Overall, these changes will make you healthier. Some believe that exposure to too much electronic equipment is dangerous. This is a controversial opinion, but what everyone is willing to accept is the fact that if you are happier and calmer, you will be healthier overall. Stress builds up and over time, has an effect on the health of your body. Plus, if you simplify things, you will have time to focus on healthy activities like cooking healthy meals, exercising and spending time with your loved ones.
Spending more time with those you care about is one of the major advantages to making things simpler. In addition to cutting out electronic equipment, you can also simplify things by saying no to activities and requests from others. This gives you more time to focus on things that are truly important. The more time you have for your family and for yourself, the better quality of life you will have.
Finally, simplifying things grounds you. You will get a sense of peace and it will also give you a chance to learn about yourself. A simple life allows you to feel settled and focus on the important things in life.

lifestyle of egypt
Much that has been learnt about Ancient Egypt comes from the tombs. Wall paintings show people at work and leisure as do many small wooden statues and models. Many everyday items are placed in the tombs for the person to use in the afterlife. Abandoned settlements also provide some evidence. These have been excavated and details of the daily life of ordinary people have been discovered.
A typical house, built of mud-brick, had three main rooms, with a yard, which acted as a kitchen, and two cellars for storage. Niches in the walls held religious objects. Finer houses had two floors and reception rooms while some even had bathrooms and toilets. Some houses, enclosed in walls, had trees and a fish pond in the garden.
Surviving legal documents show details of crimes and judgements upon the criminals. A type of police force existed, distinct from the army, that used trained dogs. Egyptian pottery
Forced labour was amongst the punishments handed out.
The majority of the population worked the land and could be conscripted for irrigation schemes or royal building projects. Foreign prisoners of war and criminals were used in gangs for heavier work like stone quarrying. Flax and cereals were grown in great quantities. Large herds of cattle were reared and cows dragged the plough and provided milk. Other livestock included sheep, pigs and donkeys.
The family was at the heart of Egyptian society and early marriage and parenthood was encouraged. Marriage tended to be within the same social group and family unions between uncle and niece or cousins were common. There was no religious ceremony, marriage was a private legal agreement. In the event of a divorce the rights of the wife were equal to those of the man.
Servants making bread
The staple food was always bread and by the time of The New Kingdom there were over 40 different varieties. Meat, although not eaten frequently because it did not keep well in the hot climate, included beef, goat, mutton, pork, goose and pigeon. Farming provided vegetables like leeks, onions, garlic and cucumbers. Fruits such as figs, dates and grapes were also available. Beer was the most popular drink and they also made wine which was stored in pottery jars.
Many favourite leisure pastimes were depicted in the tombs and these include hunting, athletic games such as wrestling and boxing, banqueting and dancing. Music was also enjoyed by the Egyptians, at a concert in 250 BC it is recorded that 600 musicians played simultaneously, but no record of any actual tune played has ever been discovered. There were also many popular board games, examples of which have survived to the present day.
